I remember that when I planned to go to Nanxi River with my friends, we couldn’t find a proper map. So we came up with the idea of making a map by ourselves. In 2006, we heard that students in Wanli College in Ningbo City launched a Green Map for Ningbo city. And we realized that a map can be made by this way.
Currently, there is no formal registered Green Map in Wenzhou city. Our Green Map will focus on not only eco-cultural development and broadcast green harmonic information, and health life, but also to promote tourism in Wenzhou with green sites information. What’s more, we want to enhance capacity building for our group and each participants through the progress.
Our map will be an electronic version made with hand-drawing style. We also plan to distribute print copies to tourists and citizens in city. Our goal is to make a map for the whole city, while the firs step is to begin with Lucheng District in Wenzhou, exclude rural areas. Lucheng District is located in inner city of Wenzhou, including 16 blocks, 6 towns, of 294 kilo squires, with a population nearly 700,000.
Now we have 2 teachers work in our group, majored in tourism management and environment design, separately. Our group have 7 key members (including one coordinator), 4 of us are majored in tourism management, 2 in environment design, 1 in law. We also have a team of 50 active volunteers who have various technical skills such as computer, design, marketing and etc. Moreover, we also contact local authorities, environmental protection office, map office, and some business sectors.
